Three Extreme Challenges That You Should Try

Feel like stepping outside your comfort zone? Looking for a new challenge? Here are three things you can do if you want to push the boundaries of human endurance:

1. Complete the Crazy Wings Challenge
Legend has it that the fabled chicken wings at Crazy Wings are so hot that one bite can leave you sweating like the Niagara Falls. I have heard horror stories about people taking Panadol to recuperate from the chili concussion that would result from contact with the infamous wings. Other symptoms include feelings of numbness, particularly in and around the tongue area, extreme agony in the throat that can last for several days, bouts of nausea and uncontrollable tears streaming down one's face.

There's a conveniently placed milk bar located next to Crazy Wings for the brave souls who dare take up the challenge. If you are crazy enough to try Crazy Wings, be sure that you're armed with plenty of icepacks and liquid beverages.

2. Compete in a marathon
I enjoy running but I've only ever run a maximum of 10km. I hope that one day I can compete in a full marathon, which is exactly 42.195 km long. The average running time for a marathon is around 4 hours and 35 mins which seems like a LONG time. That is the equivalent of watching two movies (including the ads). It will be tough, it will be painful but it will be worth it in the end. I'll probably try the Melbourne Marathon first and then hopefully I can compete in the famous New York Marathon (which coincidentally has just been cancelled this year because of Hurricane Sandy)

Fun trivia: The reason why a marathon is 42.195 km is because that is the exact distance from the Greek town of Marathon to Athens.

Fun trivia #2: The origins of the name 'marathon' came from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger who ran from Marathon to Athens without stopping to announce that the Persians had been defeated at the Battle of Marathon.

3. Climb Mt Everest
Climbing the highest mountain in the world will be the ultimate challenge. Only the most fearless daredevils will dare venture into the Death Zone where high winds, frostbite and low air pressure has claimed the lives of numerous climbers over the years. The lack of oxygen can lead to impaired judgement, confusion and even hallucinations. I'm too scared to try climbing Mt Everest so I'll just sit back and admire those who courageously journey to the summit. I can only imagine what the view from the peak is like.
